Toronto is already a beautiful place. It is the world’s most ethnically diverse city, with over 150 languages spoken, and it is Canada’s centre of finance, education, music, and the arts. At the same time, Toronto is a needy city. There is injustice. Poverty. Exploitation. Socio-economic segregation. Loneliness. Broken relationships. Confusion. Despair.
We want to see many Torontonians come to saving faith in Jesus Christ to enjoy, obey and glorify the Triune God, living as sojourners looking forward to the Heavenly City while pursuing their individual civic callings, thereby making Toronto a more beautiful city.
We want to saturate urban Toronto with a network of Biblical, Gospel-centered, praying, city-loving, missional churches where Christians regularly hear and receive by faith the word of God and the sacraments, where Christians worship and fellowship with other believers, where Christians whose characters and minds are renewed by the Holy Spirit love and serve their neighbours corporately and individually in their own vocations, in the hope of seeing glimpses of the joy and peace of Christ’s Kingdom in our great city.
In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. 2 Many nations will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 3 He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. 4 Every man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the LORD Almighty has spoken.
